Paul Hill, Deceased

[September 5, 2003]   Friends, the diatribe/rant below isn't "cool," and may offend some of you.   I know that we Pagans are supposed to be calm and unruffled at all times, kind of like Ascended Zen Masters ... and that's what I'm like most of the time.   Honest.

But today is different.   Today I read about Paul Hill in the newspaper.   This is his story ... or maybe it really isn't.   It's the story of a doctor named John Britton who was murdered in cold blood.

I'm not brain-dead, and I'm not emotion-dead, either.   This kind of stuff just makes me mad as hell.   I contend that my reaction is appropriate.

The year was 1994.   Paul Hill, age 40, lived in Florida.   He was a Christian, and a former minister of the Christian faith.   And he was opposed to abortion.

My advice to him (if I had ever met him) would have been, "If you don't like abortion, don't fucking have one.   I bet you don't even have a uterus.   Maybe you could just mind your own business."

But he wasn't just opposed to him getting an abortion; he was also opposed to you (or anybody else) getting an abortion.   So he figured (I guess) that the Christian thing to do was to find a doctor who was in the abortion business and kill him.

Which, I think, is a kind of retroactive abortion, isn't it?

"It's evil to kill.   I must stop the killing ... so ... I will kill an abortion doctor!"

It takes a Real Christian to come up with that kind of logic.

And so, on July 29, 1994, Paul Hill got a gun and went to the Ladies' Center in Pensacola, Florida and shot Dr. John Britton.   He also shot the doctor's bodyguard.   And the doctor's wife.

Only Mrs. Britton survived the attack.   The two men died.

Paul Hill was arrested, tried, convicted, and sentenced to death.   The State of Florida finally executed him on September 3, 2003 (nine years after his crime), by lethal injection.   He was pronounced dead at 6:08 pm Eastern time.

The day before he went into the death chamber, he said, "I expect a great reward in heaven.   I am looking forward to glory."   Now I can understand how Biblegod (who is truly a twisted, sick guy   -   just read the Bible some time) might reward him for killing the abortion doctor.   But the bodyguard?   And what about shooting the doctor's wife?   Mr. Hill never was quite able to come up with a Bible verse to justify shooting those people.

On the very day of his execution, he said, "If you believe abortion is a lethal force, you should oppose the force and do what you have to do to stop it."   This is the concept of "the end justifying the means," which I wasn't able to find in the New Testament.   Mr. Hill was unrepentant.   He went to his death defiant, convinced that he was right and the rest of the world was wrong.

I read of his death with great sorrow.

I am very, very sorry ... sorry that hell doesn't exist.   Sorry that Paul Hill's ass won't fry for all eternity in a place of outer darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth, a place where "the worm dieth not" (whatever the hell [no pun intended] that means).

Fuck you, Paul Hill, you unspeakable self-righteous son-of-a-bitch prick bastard.   I cheer your death.   I hope you suffered tremendously, you shit scum.   Good riddance of bad garbage !   I hope you reincarnated as a slime worm inside a piece of dogshit at the bottom of a piss-soaked landfill in Indonesia.

[July 25, 2007] Update: On the 13th anniversary of Paul Hill's cowardly acts, his supporters are holding a memorial service ... to honor him.   Does anybody wonder why I don't go to church anymore?

Take a look inside his twisted mind (read his confession letter).
