The Circle Within (Dianne Sylvan) A deeply spiritual work; I've read it over and over. Much more than a list of spells. It's aimed at the heart rather than the head. Want to have a true, deep understanding of Wicca ... the inner aspects? Read this book.
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Paganism (Carl McColman) An excellent, straightforward, understandable approach to the Craft. It's a good "first" book, but I highly recommend it for "non-beginners." Carl has gone back to the church, but he remains "Pagan-friendly."
The Power of Myth (Joseph Campbell) Helps one understand the role of myth in the neo-Pagan movement.
Drawing Down the Moon (Margot Adler) A standard work by one of the most respected Pagan authors. Its reputation as an encyclopedia of Witchcraft is well-deserved. A serious, scholarly work, but very readable.
Sister Margot died of cancer on July 28, 2014. She will be greatly missed.
Wicca Craft (Gerina Dunwich) Another one of those rare books that puts esoteric concepts in simple terms. Read an excerpt HERE.
Covencraft - Witchcraft for Three or More (Amber K.) Highly recommended. This book deals with much more than just covens; it is almost a Bible of Paganism. Over 500 pages, including appendices and a glossary. The author's style shows that she lives in the "real world."
The Pagan Book of Living and Dying (Starhawk) It contains much more than just insight into the crossing over to the other world.
The Encyclopedia of Modern Witchcraft and Neo-Paganism (Shelley Rabinovitch and James Lewis) A great resource book, well-organized and well-written, in a readable format.
Solitary Witch (Silver RavenWolf)
Paganism: an Introduction to Earth-Centered Religions (Joyce and River Higginbotham) These writers have a knack for taking spiritual concepts and explaining them in simple terms.

Living Between Two Worlds (edited by Chas S. Clifton) A very thoughtful book on the Craft. Each chapter is written by a different author.
Spellcraft for Teens: a Magickal Guide to Writing & Casting Spells (Gwinevere Rain)
The word "teens" in the title will cause some people to bypass this one, but this girl is wise beyond her years. It is written in a clear, down-to-earth style. I recommend it to all ages of readers.
