A Simplified Ritual

Maybe you don't feel like dragging out fourteen pieces of equipment every time you want to commune with the Lord and the Lady.   Here's what I do when I'm in a hurry:

I go into a dark room (this works best at night) and sit on the floor facing the wall.   I light a tea candle and set it on the floor in front of me.   Directly behind the candle I place an image (statue) of the Goddess, about 5" high (any image will do).   If need be, you can make a cardboard cutout and glue it onto a base so that it will stand upright.

I always place something between me and the candle (so that its light doesn't hit me directly in the eyes).   A 12-ounce Coke can works nicely.

The effect is interesting: the candle lights the Goddess image directly, making it the brightest object in the room.   And it casts upon the wall behind Her a shadowy silhouette that's a foot or two tall (depending on how you set things up).

And if there's the slightest disturbance in the air, so that the candle flickers, it makes the Lady appear to move and quiver slightly.

After everything's in place, you can meditate, pray, or pull a few Tarot cards.

I made my own Goddess image out of a polymer clay called Sculptey.   You mold it into whatever shape you want, and then bake it at 225 degrees for 20 minutes to harden it.
